History

PMC was founded in 1893 as Portsmouth Cycling Club., (PCC).  With the turn of the century came motorized bicycles, both manufactured and home made. Soon, most members of PCC were riding these new “contraptions”. To reflect this, the club decided to change it’s name to Portsmouth Motorcycle Club. The official founding of PMC was in 1913. The club has been continuously active since it’s beginning as PCC in 1893.  These dates are recognized by the American Motorcycle Association.  PMC has been a member of AMA since joining that organization shortly after the AMA came into existance. PMC curently has about 50 members and 20 members of PMC Women’s Auxiliary.
